Using data to build a smarter city

Drawing on his work as an Associate at ODI Leeds and Founder of Student Data Labs, Liam reveals how open data, storytelling and data science can be used to drive civic innovation and build a smarter, more sustainable city.

Liam Bolton

Liam Bolton is an Associate at the Open Data Institute, Leeds. He works to unleash the power of open data and citizens in the city through civic projects, networks and training courses.

With a background in news, Liam is interested in how open data science can be used to tackle social problems.

He is also the Founder of Student Data Labs - data-driven innovation labs for all university students, regardless of background, to learn practical data science skills whilst working on civic projects.
