Ahead of our event on Wednesday in collaboration with She Does Digital, we spoke to some of the speakers to find out what makes them tick...
I’m Kimberley. I live in Mirfield near Huddersfield with my husband, Lee. I married into a family of boardsport enthusiasts; I’ve recently learned to snowboard and I’m still working on the surfing. I regularly practice yoga and I’m learning to speak Spanish, too.
I’ve worked in user experience design since 2005, predominantly designing user interfaces for financial services. I’m now Head of Customer Experience at Leeds based start-up, Cocoon. We’re making it easier for everyone to feel their homes are secure with our smart home security device, which is controlled through a smartphone app. I’m responsible for making sure we build products that our customers love and which meets their needs. So, this means regular customer contact through support and conducting research, then working closely with our development and hardware teams to bring these features to life.
Travel (as much of) the world as a Vanlifer; Own a Labrador called Norman; Live by the sea.
I have quite eclectic interests - I love to knit and sew as it's a great way to step away from the day job, but then I also love video games and am learning to code - so if I'm not careful I can easily spend all my waking hours in front of a screen! I'm also a massive podcast addict and listen to far too many about murder and true crime. This has also become true of my Netflix habits (Mindhunter and Manhunt: Unabomber are recent binges) - come and chat to me if you have similar questionable interests!
My focus is on the paid advertising side of things, so anything from search ads on Google and Bing to display ads on Facebook and LinkedIn. My job focuses on helping our teams win new business, ensuring that our proposition as an agency delivers on both what clients want, and where the industry is going, and finally, I also spend a lot of time talking publicly about what we do - which can be on stage at industry events, or via content I write for a variety of sites.
Ooh great question!
One thing I always wanted to do was a parachute jump from a plane - I managed that ten years ago and loved every second of it!
Other things on my list would be to visit Antarctica - it's like nowhere else and I'd love to see it before it's changed forever. Also, penguins!
My third item is slightly different - one day I'd love to make it to TED and give a talk. No idea what on - I've been inspired and moved by so many TED talks I've heard that it would be a hell of a challenge to come up with something worthy of the stage, but that's half the fun!
I enjoy solving problems in a creative way. I'm also a massive lover of science, good music, behavioural psychology and all things UX.
Optimise websites, analyse user behaviour and data to create strategies which then help improve businesses as a whole as much as their websites.
Travelling around the world, writing a book and sleep in an igloo
